JAKARTA - The Windows Of Change music video from Scorpions has surpassed a billion views on YouTube. The power ballad song was originally uploaded to the platform in November 2009.

Back and forth. Vocalist Klaus Meine and co-star wrote Wind Of Change after appearing at the 1989 Moscow Music Peace Festival in Moscow, where they share the stage with other hard rock bands such as Bon Jovi and Motley Crue.

The song was inspired by the views of thousands of Russians who cheered them on in 1988 as they became the first hard rock band to play in the Red Bear Country and in 1989, at the festival mentioned above, even though they were bands from Germany.

In March 2022, at the opening concert of the "Sin City Nights" Scorpions inauguration concert at the Zappos Theater on Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Di Las Vegas, Nevada, Meine gave a special message before singing Wind Of Change.

"This song calls for peace, and tonight, I think, we will sing it harder. We dedicate this to the brave people in Ukraine," said Meine.

In an interview with the host of "Loudwire Nights" Toni Gonzalez, Klaus explained the process of thinking behind changing the lyrics of the song.

"Before we came [to Las Vegas to start a residence], I thought about what it would be like to play Wind Of Change as we used to play over the years, and I think, this is not the time with a terrible war in Ukraine raging, this is not the time to romanticize Russia with lyrics like, 'Follow the Moskva / Down to Gorky Park,' you know?'" he said.

"I want to make a statement in support of Ukraine, and the song starts now with, 'Now listen to my heart/It says Ukraine, wait for the wind to change.'"
