Riding At High Speed, The Ayayay's Second Mini Album Launched: Talking About Racing, Police Tickets, Until The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - After the first mini-album Ada Apa Dunia which was released on April 25, 2022, the indie band from Jakarta The Ayayay launched their second mini-album titled Melaju di Speed Tinggi.

The launch of this second album was carried out at a concert party at FK Bar & Lounge, Central Jakarta, Saturday 6 August 2022.

The band, which consists of Andika Patria (vocals/guitar), Edo Margoevan (bass), Aries Wijaksena (guitar), and Ahmad Vino (drums) offers the 5 newest songs in the mini album.

The five songs are Melaju at High Speed, Jakarta Rock City, What Do You Want, Belaga Gila, and Letters for a Bitch.

Andika said that the songs in this second mini album have rock n roll nuances. The lyrics in these songs have the nuances of a social phenomenon seen from the perspective of The Ayayay personnel who come from the workers.

The first single "Driving at High Speed" was inspired by the Polda Metro Jaya Street Race program initiated by the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General M Fadil Imran.

"I made the Polda Metro Jaya Street Race not only to embrace the illegal racing community, such as racers, workshops, and mechanics. But also the MSME community and art activists can be embraced so that a larger ecosystem is formed," said the Kapolda in his video testimonial.

"This is proven by the band The Ayayay who made the song "Melee at High Speed" which was inspired by the street race of the Polda Metro Jaya. Congratulations to The Ayayay who launched their second mini album. Hopefully they can go at high speed," continued Fadil.

The second song, Jakarta Rock City, is about the life of the working class in Jakarta in the midst of the harshness of the capital city. The song What Do You Want tells of the feud between superiors and subordinates in a company. The song Belaga Gila tells of bad memories of being ticketed in the middle of the road by the traffic police.

While the last song, Surat Create Bangsat, describes The Ayayay's anger towards the Indonesian political phenomenon. Identity politics and the spread of fake news make this nation prone to division. The Ayayay deliberately released this single to prevent this from happening ahead of the 2024 General Election.
