Spotify Launches Friends Mix Playlist, What Is It And How Does It Work?

JAKARTA - As never ending, Spotify is still trying to provide a better music listening experience to all its listeners.

Realizing that discovering new songs and making friends is exciting, Spotify has finally launched a new personalized playlist called "Friends Mix".

This new playlist will let you discover new tracks based on what's trending around your friends.

Spotify sees friendship as the primary source for discovering new types of music. In Indonesia alone, Spotify found more than 200,000 user-generated playlists with the word “friend” in the name or description.

Friends Mix is not something new, considering that the company has previously launched the Blend feature, which allows users to add their own favorite songs to a playlist with their loved ones.

How Does Friends Mix Work?

Friends mix is a personalized playlist. Where this playlist will provide a music playlist based on the Blends you have created with your friends.

In addition, the song recommendations that Spotify provides will be updated every day. This playlist is designed to continue to grow along with the music you are listening to.

Once you've created three or more Blends by two people (between you and one other friend), you'll be able to see a Friends Mix playlist created just for you, in the Made For Us Hub. There, you will find music that combines the tastes of your friends.

However, if you haven't found Friends Mix on that page, you can start by creating a Blend with your friends.

Type “Blend” on the search tab in Spotify. Then, press “Invite” to select the friends you want to invite to create this Blend playlist. When your friend accepts the invitation, Spotify will create a Blend playlist. The playlist contains song recommendations that reflect your and your friends' musical tastes.

The new playlist is available globally to Spotify premium subscribers and those using its free offering, though it's currently limited to the iOS and desktop apps only.
