JAKARTA - Pearl Jam will release their 11th studio album, Gigaton, on March 27 via Monkeywrench Records / Republic Records. This is a follow-up to Lightning Bolt which was released seven years ago.

"Making this record was a long journey," said guitarist Mike McCready. Launched Loudersound, Tuesday, January 14.

"This album is dark and confusing at times, but also an interesting and experimental (musical) roadmap. Collaborating with my bandmates at Gigaton has finally given me greater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in this day and age."

In May 2018, bassist Jeff Ament revealed that Pearl Jam was working on ideas for a new album. But, he told the WNCR radio station, they weren't too rushed into working on it.

"We really want to make something great, and we want to have the freedom to live with some ideas for a while and then maybe record them in a different way," he said.

January 2019, Ament again revealed that the process of working on their new album had been affected by the death of Chris Cornell. Leaders for Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, died of suicide in May 2017.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Ament explained that work on their new album was slow after Cornell's death.

"It was great to record or even just write a song together (on Pearl Jam)," said Ament. "I think when Chris died it was really a difficult thing to focus on."

He added that Pearl Jam was actually going to make a new album and it was still halfway there. "We will keep trying until it's finished," he said. "We're just kind of a little subconscious."

Gigaton's cover artwork features a photo of the Nordaustlandet ice dome on the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, which is located 600 miles from the North Pole. The photo was taken by National Geographic photographer Paul Nicklen.

The album is already available for pre-order, along with the single 7 ", Dance Of The Clairvoyants, due out in the coming weeks.

Pearl Jam also announced a European tour for the summer, including a spot headline at BST's Hyde Park event in London in July. they confirmed a series of US concert dates for spring. The full schedule is below.
