JAKARTA - GSrek Indonesia Jakarta Chapter carries a social mission in the form of support for the education sector in Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara. By holding the Homecoming Sumba 2026 program, it presents a real contribution to the community.

In partnership with Telkomsel, as many as 81 participants were involved in this cross-regional journey, which was not only a community activity, but also carried a social mission to distribute educational equipment assistance to students and educators at a number of schools in Sumba.

In various regions of Sumba, the limited access to educational support facilities is still a real challenge. The availability of adequate learning equipment is one of the important factors in supporting the optimal learning process, both for students and teachers.

Chairman of GSrek Indonesia Jakarta Chapter, Hendra Saputra, said that education is an important foundation that needs to be given joint attention.

"Children in Sumba have an extraordinary learning spirit. Simple support such as school supplies, coupled with a fun learning method, is expected to help them learn more comfortably and confidently," he said, in an official statement received, Tuesday, May 12.

As a form of concern for the condition, Telkomsel and GSrek Indonesia Jakarta Chapter distributed school supplies in the form of stationery and other learning needs to three schools, namely SD Negeri Ndata with 58 students and 12 teachers, SLB Negeri Loura with 77 students and 22 educators and employees, and SD Inpres Pantai Rua with 103 students and 11 teachers.

In addition to distributing assistance, the activity was also filled with interactive learning sessions for students and GSrek members through educational activities based on games. On this occasion, students were invited to watch videos from YouTube containing animal sounds to then guess the type of animal. This activity is packaged as a fun learning method while improving students' memory and interaction in the classroom.

In addition, this activity also became a momentum to test the quality of Telkomsel's network in three different areas in Sumba during the learning process. This is done to ensure a stable digital experience and support the internet-based learning process in the area.

The participants also interacted directly with students and educators to see the conditions of teaching and learning activities in the field. This approach is carried out to strengthen understanding of educational needs in the region as well as build closeness with the local community.

Through this collaboration, Telkomsel wants to make a real contribution by supporting more decent and inclusive access to education, while ensuring the quality of the network that can support people's digital activities and open up better future opportunities.

Through Homecoming Sumba 2026, Telkomsel together with GSrek Indonesia Jakarta Chapter hopes that this activity will not only be a community journey, but also present a sustainable real social impact, especially in supporting better access to education for the younger generation in Sumba.
