JAKARTA - The presence of the Suzuki Satria Pro in the two-wheeled market in the country does not immediately make Yamaha react aggressively. PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) emphasized that it still has confidence in relying on the Yamaha MX King as the main challenger in the sport scooter segment.
Manager of Public Relations, YRA & Community PT YIMM Rifki Maulana, said that MX King has been positioned from the beginning to face high-performance sport ducks. Even though the update is relatively minimal, consumer interest is still considered stable.
"From the beginning of the time we brought MX-King to Indonesia, we are competing with other sport ducks as well. We are now still focusing on MX King. Until now (sales) are still competent, more or less so," said Rifki Maulana when asked about the presence of the latest Suzuki Satria, some time ago.
When asked about Yamaha's chances of increasing the capacity of the MX King engine to 155 cc, Rifki confirmed that there were no plans in that direction. According to him, changes to the mechanical heart are not just about performance, but also have a direct impact on the production cost structure.
"The addition of cc engines must (use) different technology, yes. So there will definitely be a price change," said Rifki.
The Suzuki Satria Pro was officially launched in Indonesia last month with a price tag of around Rp34 million on the road Jakarta. This price is Rp7 million more expensive than the Yamaha MX King which is currently sold with a price tag of Rp27 million.
The sport duck bike is equipped with a 147 cc DOHC engine with one cylinder that produces 13.5 kW of power and 13.8 Nm of torque, combined with a six-speed manual transmission with slipper clutch assist technology. In terms of efficiency, the manufacturer claims that the Satria Pro fuel consumption reaches 43 km/liter.
Not only about performance, Satria Pro also brings a relatively complete package of technology in its class. Features such as a head unit with Ride-Connect connectivity, a mobile phone charging socket, smart keyless, to a dual-channel ABS braking system are additional selling points.
Meanwhile, the MX King carries a 150cc fuel injection engine, 4 valves, with 5 accelerations that are capable of producing 11.3 kW/8500 rpm power and 13.8 Nm/7000 rpm torque. In addition, the engine that adopts racing technology has been equipped with liquid cooling.
