JAKARTA - PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) ensures that the Yamaha Vixion R is no longer produced and marketed in Indonesia. Now, the Vixion family only has one model, namely the standard version.
The news of the stop of production was revealed directly by Rifki Maulana as Manager of Public Relations, YRA & Community PT YIMM. However, the detailed reasons behind this decision have not been explained by Yamaha.
"Our Vixion has been discontinued, but for Vixion R. Yes (this year it was injected to die)," said Rifki in Senayan, Central Jakarta, not long ago.
He emphasized that the standard Vixion is still available, while the R type is confirmed to no longer be present in the market. "So there is still a version of the standard Vixion. If the R is gone," he said.
With the departure of the Vixion R, Yamaha's line of sports motorcycles in Indonesia is getting leaner. In addition to the standard Vixion, Yamaha now relies on models such as the XSR, R-series, and WR-series which still have strong demand.
"We are still (relying on) the standard Vixion, XSR, R-series and WR-series. They are all still there," added Rifki.
On the other hand, even though it has stopped production, the Vixion R is still listed on the official Yamaha Indonesia website with a starting price of Rp. 34 million on the road Jakarta. It seems that it's just a matter of spending the existing stock, and is available in two colors, namely black and red.
Compared to the standard version, the Vixion R carries a larger engine, namely a liquid-cooled SOHC 155.1 cc with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology. This engine is claimed to be able to produce 14.2 kW of power and 14.7 Nm of torque, making it superior in performance in the 150 cc sport class.
