Honda Said About Prabowo's Plan To Present A National Motorcycle, Ready For Collaboration?

JAKARTA - Honda commented on President Prabowo Subianto's statement that he had ambitions to present a national motorbike. It is known that this Japanese manufacturer is one of the rulers of the motorcycle market in Indonesia.

Astra Honda Motor (AHM) itself positively welcomed the idea. However, they emphasized that until now they have not received further details about the plan initiated by the government, and whether in the future it will be collaborated or not.

"Yes, so far it has just beenstated, yes. We're just waiting to see what the clarity will be," said AHM Marketing Director Octavianus Dwi, recently.

Previously, Prabowo reiterated his desire for Indonesia to be independent in the automotive sector. After the national car, now national motorcycles are also on the list of government targets.

"We will have our own Indonesian-made car, our own Indonesian-made motorbike. I have prepared it," Prabowo said in Bekasi, as conveyed on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, last November.

Even so, Prabowo has not detailed the model, production scheme, or road map related to the project. The President only ensured that all vehicle development plans had begun to be prepared by the government.

Not only that, Prabowo also revealed his plan to change the conventional rickshaw to an electric rickshaw, including setting the age limit for motorists.

"I have prepared later all rickshaws throughout Indonesia must use electric motorbikes. There is no longer allowed for rickshaw drivers to be over 70 years old. Later, please think about the plan," he said.

The national car project itself has also attracted Hyundai Motor Group's interest. Although, in the end, the government will cooperate with PT Pindad (Persero) for its production and the plan will begin in 2027.
