Vinfast Electric Motor Is Planned To Launch In Indonesia Next Year

JAKARTA - Vinfast has prepared a new plan to expand its business work in the Indonesian automotive market. One of them is by selling several electric motorcycle models next year.

Please note, Vinfast already has several electric motorcycle models, such as THeon S, Vento S, Klara Neo to Dragnfly eBike. In Vietnam, which is the country of origin, these motorbikes are quite selling well.

Now, Vinfast has confirmed that several electric motorcycle models will be presented in Indonesia in 2026. This is an important part of Vinfast's expansion in the fast-growing two-wheel segment in Southeast Asia.

VinFast Indonesia Chief Executive Officer Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, said that his electric motorbike will launch in the first quarter of next year. According to him, the launch preparations are now being finalized intensively with teams in Indonesia.

In the early stages, all VinFast electric motor units will be imported intact or Completely Built-Up (CBU). However, after the local assembly facility in Subang is fully operational, the company plans to produce it locally.

"What is certain is that we first introduce the electric motor (scheme) Completely Built Up (CBU) at the beginning of next year," said Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto at the GJAW 2025 event, recently.

However, this will be a tough challenge for Vinfast if he fights in the Indonesian electric motorcycle market. Considering that currently the electric motors that have been sold are also experiencing a decline, due to the unclear incentives from the government.

In fact, previously there was a discount price of IDR 7 million for products that met the requirements and that was enough to boost sales. Referring to data from the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (Aismoli), sales of electric motorcycle retail fell 50 percent in the first half of 2025, leaving around 12,000 units.
