JAKARTA The trend of electric motorcycles in Indonesia is getting hotter. Honda has launched several models, Yamaha is still conducting market studies, but one big name from Japan still has not seen its movement, namely Suzuki.

In fact, in India Suzuki already has e-Access, an electric scooter that attracts attention because of its promising specifications. The question is, when will Suzuki play in the Indonesian electric motorcycle market?

"The planned electric motorbike will be next year or 2027," said 2W Sales & Marketing Department Head of PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales Teuku Agha Alvavy, when met at the IMOS exhibition at ICE BSD, Tangerang.

Agha explained that Suzuki's decision to just go down to the electric motorcycle segment next year or early 2027 was a calculated step. "We'll see first the market development. It can't be put all in immediately," he explained.

He added that the company's strategy was the main factor behind determining the launch time. Unfortunately, Agha has not been able to reveal further about the model to be brought to Indonesia.

Seeing the specifications of the Suzuki e-Access marketed in India, this scooter looks quite promising. Carrying e-Technology technology, e-Access uses an lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 3.07 kWh. The battery is claimed to be heat-resistant, high humidity, and shocks, and can cover a distance of up to 95 km in one charge.

Electric motorbikes produce 4.1 kW of power with a torque of 15 Nm, enough to carry scooters up to 71 km/hour. The features are also modern, including regenerative braking, a TFT LCD screen that is connected to smartphones through the Suzuki Ride Connect-E application, to a keyless system that adds to driving comfort.
