No Clarity Yet, So Motors Encourages Government To Implement Electric Motor Incentives 2025

JAKARTA - The government has not yet issued regulations related to the subset or incentives for electric motors for 2025, and one of the local producers of Maka Motors encourages the clarity and implementation of these incentives (2025 electric motorists) to immediately.

Not without reason, various challenges are currently narrowing the automotive industry nationally, various discourses such as relaxation of TKDN, opening import taps to unclear subsidies of electric vehicles cause anxiety in the market, which makes sales slow.

Reflecting on 2024, sales of electric motorcycles are quite promising and even reach more than 63 thousand units, up from the previous year which was only 11 thousand units. The existence of incentives worth IDR 7 million has proven effective in boosting sales.

CEO & Founder of MAKA Motors Raditya Wibowo, said the uncertainty regarding the continuation of the electric motorcycle subsidy is quite counterproductive and creates balance for both industry players and consumers. It can be seen how incentives in 2024 are able to encourage the adoption of electric motors. But, what is more urgent at this time is the clarity of the government. Whether the subsidy will continue or not, the decision is important to be announced immediately.

"Don't let consumers continue to be in uncertainty which has severely hampered the growth of the Indonesian electric motor market. We really hope that the announcement and implementation of a clear subsidy policy can be carried out no later than the first half of 2025, so that the positive momentum of electric vehicle adoption can be maintained," said Raditya Wibowo, in an official statement received, Friday, May 23.

He further said, "Maka Motors believes that electric motorcycles have a bright future, especially since various manufacturers have created reliable motorcycle models, including Maka Cavalry which is designed with quality and performance according to people's expectations."

"With the clarity of consumers, they can make purchase decisions more confident, and the industry can plan future steps better," he added.

He considered that delaying certainty was the same as delaying the huge potential of the national electric vehicle market. For this reason, he really hopes that the government can provide clarity regarding continuation.

"Therefore, we really hope that the government can provide clarity regarding the continuation of this subsidy in the first half of 2025, in order to maintain the sustainability of industrial growth and provide certainty for consumers," he added.

One of the consumers who declined to be named is also waiting for the clarity of incentives from the government, because with this (incentive) it can be quite helpful.

"Honestly, I have actually been interested in electric motorbikes for a long time, apart from being efficient, it's also comfortable. But with this uncertainty, I doubt buying now or later. The government can immediately give certainty so as not to wait," said one of the unnamed consumer candidates.

Maka Motors sendiri memiliki tujuan yang cukup baik di pasar nasional, bahkan mendukung regulasi TKDN dan proses R&D 100 persen dilakukan di Indonesia, sampai semua pekerjanya juga orang Indonesia.
