JAKARTA - The latest plug-in hybrid crossover, the BYD Sealion 05 DM-i, has begun to be seen filling a number of dealers in China ahead of the pre-sale stage. The presence of these units is referred to as a display, not to be directly delivered to consumers.
This model is rumored to be equipped with a 34.275 kWh LFP battery that can travel up to 305 km on electricity based on the CLTC standard, and is priced starting at 96,000 yuan, or equivalent to Rp. 237 million.

In terms of design, the BYD Sealion 05 DM-i carries a compact crossover appearance with flowing body lines, sleek headlights, and elongated model taillights. For the PHEV version, the dimensions are recorded at 4,620 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,630 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm or 100 mm longer than the pure electric variant.
This SUV is available in six colors, namely gray, sea white, green, sun white, pink, and orange. The exterior design is also equipped with a sporty-style roof spoiler, rear wiper, and minimalist bumper.
The front features an active air duct, while the side area is emphasized with plastic trim on the wheel arches and side skirts. Entering the cabin, the Sealion 05 DM-i is equipped with an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel and a 15.6-inch floating touch screen.
The center console features adjustable air vents, while the transmission lever is placed behind the three-spoke steering wheel. In addition, there is a 50W wireless charging, two cup holders, and physical buttons for ease of operation.
Other comfort features include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and electric front seats with heating and ventilation. The audio system relies on eight speakers, plus an electric tailgate and rear armrest with two glass holders.
In terms of performance, the Sealion 05 DM-i carries the fifth generation DM technology with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with 74 kW (99 hp) power coupled with an electric motor of 120 kW (161 hp). This model will be available in two LFP battery options, namely 26.628 kWh and 34.275 kWh, with an electric range of between 220 and 305 km (CLTC).
Previously, this model was registered with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT) with a 18.3 kWh battery and a WLTC range of 102 km. However, it was stated that the variant would not be marketed.
Sealion 05 DM-i is also equipped with the DiSus-C adaptive suspension system and LiDAR-based driving assistance features through the DiPilot 300 system. Later there will be four variants sold at the most expensive price of Rp. 311 million.
