Huawei Opens Pre-Order for SAIC Z7 with a Travel Distance of 905 Km to Beat Xiaomi SU7

JAKARTA - The competition between technology giants in the electric vehicle (EV) industry has entered a new phase that is increasingly personal. Huawei officially announced the opening of a pre-order faucet (pre-order) for the latest electric car line resulting from its collaboration with SAIC, namely the Shangjie Z7 and the shooting brake variant Z7T, on March 23, 2026.

This step is considered by many analysts as Huawei's direct attempt to "drown" Xiaomi's SU7 euphoria in the smart car market. Plus, there are leaks that the price of the car will be cheaper than the SU7 price.

Huawei's strategy this time seems very specific in targeting the numbers on paper. Based on data leaked from the latest specifications, reported by ChinaEVHome, Monday, March 16, the highest variant (top-trim) of the SAIC Z7 is claimed to have a range of up to 905 km based on the CLTC standard.

This figure is very interesting because it is exactly 2 km further than the maximum mileage offered by the latest generation of Xiaomi SU7. This slight difference is considered a symbolic message from Huawei that they are ready to outperform Xiaomi in every detail, even the smallest technical detail.

Not only mechanical duels in the battery sector, Huawei also showcases the sophistication of the interior that is difficult to match. SAIC Z7 will make its official debut at the end of March with the main features:

"Sunflower" Swiveling Screen: The main screen can automatically rotate and tilt towards the driver as needed. Interactive Passenger Display: A special screen for the front passenger to keep them entertained without disturbing the driver's concentration.

Present the "Shooting Brake" variant of the Z7T

Understanding that the EV market is starting to saturate with conventional sedan forms, Huawei and SAIC will also launch the Z7T variant. This variant carries a shooting brake design (a combination of a sedan and a station wagon) that is sporty and functional.

The presence of the Z7T variant provides a model selection advantage for consumers, something that is currently still limited to the Xiaomi SU7 line which focuses on pure sedan design.
