JAKARTA - Toyota Indonesia ensures that its export commitment to the Middle East market is still running as usual even though the geopolitical situation in the region is heating up.

The company stated that there has been no change in commitments with importers, but vehicle shipments are facing logistical constraints.

President Director of PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) Nandi Julyanto in Jakarta, Friday, March 6 evening, explained that vehicle production continued to run normally according to orders from the export market, however, the shipping process for the Middle East region was temporarily halted due to disruptions in the delivery line.

"Until now, our commitment to importers has not changed. The only problem is that logistics is disrupted, so we still produce normally according to orders, but shipping or shipping sees the situation," said Nandi, quoted by Antara, Saturday, March 7.

Due to the delay in shipments, Toyota Indonesia is now preparing a vehicle storage area at the stockyard. Vehicles that have been produced are temporarily stored while waiting for the condition of the shipment to be possible again.

"What we produce cannot be shipped, so now we stop first. But there has been no change in commitment," said Nandi.

The company also admitted that it could not determine how long the delivery delay would last. Currently, the transport ships are said to have not operated to the area.

"I don't know, because the ship is not going there now," he said.

To anticipate this situation, TMMIN is studying the possibility of using alternative delivery routes. Meanwhile, the delivery of components or spare parts is still carried out by utilizing air routes.

On the other hand, TMMIN emphasized that their export market does not only depend on the Middle East. Currently, the company's largest exports are actually heading to the ASEAN and Latin American regions. The contribution of the Middle East market is estimated at around 17-20 percent of the total export of Toyota vehicles in Indonesia.
