PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) has given a statement regarding the opportunity for the latest Suzuki Swift to be present in Indonesia. The company ensures that the opportunity is not completely closed, but at this time it is not the main focus of their product plans.

Deputy Marketing Director of PT SIS Donny Saputra, explained that the character of the passenger car market in Indonesia is now different from a few years ago. Consumer preferences are said to be increasingly leaning towards the SUV segment.

Meanwhile, interest in hatchbacks has declined. This condition makes Suzuki prioritize other models that are considered in line with current market needs.

"If we look at it, now there is a shift in trend from hatchbacks to SUVs. That's why, in terms of portfolio, we prefer Fronx to hatchback models including Swift," said Donny Saputra on the sidelines of IIMS 2026 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, not long ago.

However, Donny emphasized that Suzuki is still monitoring market developments. He said that consumer tastes can change over time, so the opportunity to present the latest generation of Swift is still open if demand picks up again.

"But it's not impossible, because the trend is like fashion, right. So, it's not impossible, if there is a change in references in Indonesia, of course we will launch something that meets market needs," he said.

As an illustration, the latest Suzuki Swift has already been launched in India in 2024. The model now relies on a Z12E 1,200 cc three-cylinder engine that replaces the K-Series four-cylinder engine.

This new engine is capable of producing 80 bhp of power and 112 Nm of torque, with the option of a manual or automatic five-speed transmission. The Z12E engine is also claimed to be more fuel efficient.

Based on Maruti Suzuki's internal testing, the fuel consumption of the latest Swift is said to be able to reach 24.8 kilometers per liter. When it debuted in India, the latest generation Suzuki Swift was marketed at a price starting at around IDR 125 million for the LXI variant as the lowest model, while the highest variant ZXI+ AGS Dual Tone was priced at around IDR 186.2 million.
