JAKARTA - The Toyota Hiace in Japan received an update that focuses more on adding new technology and features, which makes it look more attractive.

Citing the Rushlane website, Wednesday, January 21, the 2026 model Toyota Hiace comes with limited updates to the revised Bi-LED headlight design. In addition, there are no other major exterior changes.

Entering the interior, there are updates such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital instrument panel. Both of these features are now offered as standard on all 2026 Hiace variants. The touch screen can be used for navigation and accessing the panorama display monitor feature.

The basic model gets more utility with features such as a new rear door hold function. By comparison, the higher trim focuses on improving comfort and convenience. As a context, the 2026 Hiace's Super GL variant gets heated front seats as part of the standard equipment.

Passenger safety has also been improved on the 2026 Toyota Hiace. This updated model gets Toyota's latest Safety Sense suite, which features a comprehensive range of ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) features.

The flagship features include lane change assist, radar cruise control with cornering speed control, and sign recognition assistance. The van also gets a more robust pre-collision safety system, which features a wider range of collision avoidance capabilities.

The 2026 Hiace will continue to offer a variety of optional upgrades and accessories. This includes exterior styling packages as well as interior customization from Modellista and GR Parts. A wide range of Toyota official accessories, which include recreational and commercial needs, are also available.

The 2026 Toyota Hiace still uses the same choice of powertrains as before. There is a 2.0 liter gasoline engine that produces 160 PS and 182 Nm of torque. Buyers can also choose a 2.8 liter diesel engine that produces 151 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Hiace is offered in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) options.

Toyota will launch the 2026 Hiace in Japan on February 2 with the base DX type gasoline engine variant to be marketed at a starting price of 2,860,000 yen or equivalent to Rp302 million. Meanwhile, for the highest variant, namely the Super GL Dark Prime II diesel engine, it is priced at 4,683,800 yen or around Rp495 million
