Mercedes-Benz Introduces The Latest Electrical Model GLB

JAKARTA - Mercedes-Benz officially features the 2027 generation GLB with a series of significant updates, including the presence of a full electric variant for the first time. The model carries a more modern exterior design, improved cabin technology, and a more spacious interior space than its predecessors.

Reported by Caranddriver, Monday, December 8, the electric version of the GLB is offered in two variants. First, GLB250+ which uses a rear wheel drive with a strength of 268 horse power and a torque of 247 lb-ft. This variant is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.3 seconds.

On top, there is GLB350 with two electric motors powered by 349 stances and 380 lb-ft torques, which record acceleration of 0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. Both variants use 85 kWh of battery with an estimated distance of 460 Km to 535 Km for GLB250+, and 442 Km to 523 Km miles for GLB350, as well as support for fast charging of up to 320 kW.

In addition to the two electric versions, Mercedes-Benz has also prepared the 2027 GLB in a hybrid configuration. This model combines 1.5 liter gasoline engines with small 27-horsepower electric motors and 1.3 kWh lithium-ion batteries, producing a total of 188 stances.

This hybrid system allows vehicles to drive using pure electric power at low speed and short distance. In terms of design, the latest GLB comes with a more assertive front display through the use of large grilles with chrom elements and headlights connected by light-bars.

The back features full-width lights with an inverse shape resembling the 'U' letters, providing a new and more modern visual identity. The enlarged dimensions also increase cabin comfort. The body length increases by 3.9 inches, the width increases by 1.1 inches, and the wheelbase extends 2.4 inches.

As a result, the second row passenger space has now increased by about 2.7 inches. GLB still offers a five or seven-passer configuration option, making it a flexible compact SUV for various needs. On the interior, Mercedes-Benz offers a Superscreen screen configuration that includes a 10.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 14-inch central display, and a 14-inch passenger screen on certain variants.

Although various functions are now touchscreen-based, Mercedes still maintains physical buttons for important settings such as volume and cruise control to provide an intuitive driving experience.

The official price of the 2027 GLB has not been announced, but it is estimated to be slightly above the price of other basic Mercedes electric vehicles. The electric model is scheduled to start marketing by the end of 2026, while the hybrid version will follow in early 2027.
