The Latest EV Bolt Economy Can Now Super Fast Charge And Present Updates

JAKARTA Chevrolet introduced the Bolt EV 2027 with a major increase in the fast charging sector which makes it increasingly ready for long-distance travel. This latest generation comes with battery technology and a much more efficient charging system than its predecessors.

According to Chief Engineer Bolt, Jeremy Short, the new model is now capable of reaching charging speeds of up to 150 kilowatts, up significantly from the previous generation which was only able to reach 50 kilowatts. This increase allows charging from 10 to 80 percent in about 26 minutes.

This vehicle used to be known as a commuter car. Now it is a vehicle for a true road trip," said Short, quoted from InsideEvs, Saturday, October 11.

Chevrolet uses a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 65 kilowatt-hours that is not only more durable, but also more efficient in temperature management. In addition, Bolt 2027 became the first Chevrolet car to be directly equipped with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging port, the same standard used by Tesla. With this system, Bolt users can directly access Tesla's Supercharger network without the need for additional adapters.

However, users can still do charging on other networks such as Electrify America or ChargePoint using CCS adapters to NACS which are sold separately. Chevrolet also added a plug and charge' feature, which allows automatic charging without the need for manual activation at certain stations, including GM Energy EVgo and Tesla Supercharger networks.

Technically, the Bolt EV 2027 received a major revision of more than 50 percent of its components. Starting from the new brake module, the electric drive unit X76, to the electronic architecture Vehicle Intelligence Platform (VIP). Although the exterior design looks familiar, the basic structure is maintained in part to maintain production cost efficiency.

On the interior, the new Bolt performs more modern with an 11-inch digital instrument display and an 11.3-inch infotainment system that has been integrated with Google built-in services. The navigation feature can now feature charging station locations along the route and work in line with Super Cruise systems for handless driving.

Chevrolet set the base price of the Bolt EV 2027 at 29,990 US dollars or around Rp496 million. The official launch is scheduled to take place in January 2027, with limited initial production.
