Toyota BZ3X Steering Right To Launch In Hong Kong And Macau, Potentially Coming To Indonesia Soon?

JAKARTA - The joint venture between GAC and Toyota gave birth to a reliable product, namely bZ3X for the Chinese market. The market price there is quite varied, ranging from 109,800 yuan equivalent to Rp250.5 million to 159,800 yuan or Rp364 million.

The car, which is claimed to have received 10 thousand orders within an hour of launch, turns out to already have a Right Hand Drive (RHD) or right steering version, and is present in Hong Kong and Macau.

Quoting from the Carnewschina page, Thursday, October 2, bZ3X was the first Toyota electric vehicle specifically designed for Hong Kong, and debuted in the KOWloon Bay flagship showroom on September 27. Prices for Hong Kong have not been officially confirmed and may have differences with Macau.

In Hong Kong and Macau configurations, bZ3X is powered by permanent magnetic synchronous motors that generate torques of 150 kW and 210 Nm. Power is supplied by a 70.0 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which provides a range of up to 565 km below the NEDC testing cycle.

This car model already supports the charging of CCS2, with a capacity of 6.6 kW on AC and 90 kW on DC fast charging. In fact, there is a Vehicle to Load (V2L) that can provide power to other electricity.

Looking in more detail at the model, the Japanese automotive giant presented the dimensions of this car with a length of 4,600 mm, a width of 1,850 mm, and a height of 1,645 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. It weighs a sidewalk of 1,835 kg and offers a baggage room of 427 liters. The turning radius is estimated at 5.8 meters, and the car is equipped with a 19-inch rim paired with a 225/45R19 tire.

Inside, the bZ3X is equipped with Toyota's Smart Driving Assistant, supported by a mobile app. Its cabin has an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster paired with a 14.6-inch central screen that integrates audio, navigation, and system control.

The wireless Apple CarPlay and English voice control are standard, along with the YAMAHA premium 11 speaker audio system. Front seats can be electrically adjusted to heating, ventilation, and cooling functions, while back seats offer lying adjustments ranging from 117 to 137 degrees.

The dual zone climate control system with PM2.5 air filtering and rear air ventilation is included, along with interior lighting of about 32 colors. Other features include a panoramic glass roof with an electric break, a 360-degree panoramic parking camera, and a special emergency power-breaking button.

Potential Present In Indonesia

Deputy President Director of PT Toyota Manufacturing Motor Indonesia (TMMIN), Bob Azam, said that his party opens the possibility to produce the model in Indonesia and will soon learn more about bZ3X in the near future.

"That's a supply chain from China, if it's sold here, don't let it enter us in a state of 100 percent CBU. The point is we need to learn the needs of consumers in Indonesia too," said Bob when met by the media at the iftar event together at Gatot Subroto, Tuesday, March 18.
