Officially Sold At Tempting Prices And Complete Features, CLA EV Becomes Mercedes-Benz' New Weapon

JAKARTA - Mercedes-Benz officially opened the presale for its newest all-electric CLA in China, and the public response was immediately crowded. This model comes at a very competitive price and even the basic version is priced much cheaper than the gasoline-powered CLA. More than that, this car became the first model to bring the smart driving assistance system from the Mercedes-Benz collaboration with Chinese technology company Momenta.

It is known, the presence of an all-electric CLA is an important milestone in the Mercedes-Benz electrification strategy. The smart technology developed together with this Momenta will be the basis for other Mercedes-Benz models in the future.

Reporting from ChinaEVHome, Thursday, September 25, two variants are offered at a presale price starting from 259,000 yuan or around Rp608 million for the Super Long Range version. Meanwhile, the Super Long Range Premium Intelligent variant was released for 299,000 yuan or around Rp702 million.

Thanks to China's local production strategy, the initial power power power banderol is much more affordable than CLA Coupe's four-door gasoline engine which is currently being marketed starting at 309,200 yuan or around Rp726 million.

This car builds on the latest MMA modular platform with an advanced 800V electrical architecture. The lithium ternary battery of CATL with a capacity of 89 kWh is embedded capable of providing a range of up to 866 km according to the CLTC cycle. Its energy consumption is also impressive, only 10.9 kWh per 100 km, and its fast charging feature allows for an additional distance of up to 370 km in just 10 minutes.

This electric CL dimension also experienced an update, with a length of 4,763 mm and a 40 mm extended wheelbase to 2,830 mm, thus offering a more spacious cabin space. Mercedes-Benz even added a frunk with a capacity of 101 liters to increase practicality.

The most notable feature is the smart driving system as a result of the joint development of Momenta, which is specifically designed for the Chinese market. The system uses a large model Flywheel Momenta technology and allows the driving point-to-point assistance function, both on highways, urban roads, to parking. Mercedes-Benz said that the system calibration was carried out by the Sino-German team to ensure global safety standards were maintained while adjusting to local traffic conditions. The technology is trained using Chinese domestic data and has passed millions of kilometers of simulation and real road tests in various cities.

On the interior, this electric CLA adopts the latest MB.OS operating system which is presented through three screens: 10.25-inch instrument cluster, 14.6-inch central screen, and 14-inch passenger screen. The system is also integrated with Doubao's generative AI to provide a smarter interactive experience.
