Enlivening Luxury SUV Market, Dongfeng Voyah Ready To Release Taishan Equipped With Huawei's Level 3 Autonomous Technology

JAKARTA The premium car brand under the auspices of Dongfeng Motor, Voyah, officially released a teaser image wrapped in camouflage for their latest flagship SUV.

Known for its internal codename 'Taishan', the SUV is positioned as a "new era flagship SUV" that is ready to hit the market with autonomous technology and wild performance. The official launch of the car is scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of this year.

CarNewsChina reported, Monday, August 25, that Voyah Taishan will be equipped with Huawei's most advanced autonomous solution, namely Huawei Qiankun ADS 4.0 Ultra. This system uses four LiDAR sensors to realize Level 3 conditional autonomous driving capabilities. In addition, this car will also be embedded with a 800V high voltage system, which promises very fast charging efficiency and capability.

Voyah Taishan is designed as a full six-seat SUV. The car is about 5.3 meters long and wheelbase is about 3.1 meters, making it one of the largest in its class. The car builds on the Tianyuan architectural platform and is backed by a self-developed vehicle control platform by Dongfeng, collaborating with Huawei's automotive control module.

In terms of appearance, Taishan adopted the family's distinctive design language of Voyah, similar to the Voyah Passion L. The front has a distinctive large vertical goal and a slim headlights. The main LiDAR sensor is placed integrated on the front roof, giving a modern and futuristic impression. Meanwhile, the back is decorated with lights that blend from end to end.

Although details of interior specifications and powertrains have not been officially disclosed, news from Sohu media indicates that Taishan will be available in the BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) variants.

For the BEV variant, it is estimated that it will come with a four-wheeled motor-motor driving system capable of producing a combined power of 500 kW (about 671 hp). This performance allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour in less than 4 seconds. Paired with a large capacity battery pack, Taishan BEV is projected to have a range of up to 700 km according to CLTC standards.
