Acura Leaks The First Look Of Acura RSX As An Electric Crossover

JAKARTA - There is something interesting at the annual automotive Monterey Car Week event which is currently taking place in the United States. The legendary name Acura RSX came back from the grave at an event that lasted until August 17.

However, the return of Acura RSX, which went through this prototype, was not a combination of two iconic doors in the 2000s era, but as a futuristic four-door electric crossover.

InsideEVs reported on Monday, August 11, Acura recently released a leak of the premiere of the RSX Prototype, which is also the first electric car to use Honda's "Zero Series" platform.

This new platform is an important milestone for Honda. Although previous models such as Acura ZDX and Honda Prologue still rely on General Motors' Ultium platform, RSX will be the first fully self-developed model by Honda. The Zero Series platform is specially designed for electric cars, with the aim of reducing production costs and providing complete control over electronic systems, including an advanced operating system called ASIMO.

From the teaser images circulating, the RSX Prototype shows many design elements of the Performance EV Concept introduced last year. Sleek LED DRL lights and large air holes on the front bumper create an aggressive display. Although some details such as the hood score from the concept version are removed, this design still gives a sporty and modern impression. The front bumper area is also equipped with a large black plastic panel that is likely to hide advanced sensors for driving assistance features.

The electric crossover is scheduled to be produced at Honda's new EV plant in Ohio, with sales expected to start in the second half of 2026. With the return of RSX's name, Acura hopes to strengthen its position in the premium electric car market, offering a combination of a legacy with future technology.
