JAKARTA The world's largest automotive exhibition, Auto Shanghai, became a show for Chery's sub-brand to introduce closer to the interior of its first electric car, J5.

This car previously made its global debut in Indonesia through the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025 in February, and is now again in the main spotlight at the Chery booth at Auto Shanghai.

"This is proof of our big ambition, because J5 BEV is Jaecoo's first electric vehicle model," said Jaecool Indonesia Country Director Max Zhou, when met at the exhibition site.

So, what is the atmosphere of Jaecool J5 EV cabin up close?

The J5 EV interior appears with a modern and luxurious impression. The touch of soft touch material is spread evenly throughout the cabin, including in the steering area, adding to the comfort and impression of premium.

In the middle, a large elongated infotainment display dominates the dashboard. This screen serves as the control center of various vehicle features. Not only that, but there is also an elongated digital instrument panel that looks futuristic and adds aesthetic value.

Interestingly, even though it is digital, Jaecoo still maintains a number of physical buttons around the wheel. These buttons are strategically positioned to make it easier for drivers to access important features, including the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) system which is reportedly to be embedded.

For practical convenience, there are two cup holders on the front console, as well as a hand-back on the second row "providing an impression like a high-end modern car. The space of feet behind also feels relieved, promises extra comfort for passengers.

Currently, the J5 EV is still using the left steering wheel. However, it is likely that the interior version on display will be brought to Indonesia when this model is officially launched in the Indonesian market.
