JAKARTA - Kia has officially started mass production for its compact EV SUV model, Syros in an assembly line at the Anantapur factory, Andhra Pradesh, India after its first launch at the end of 2024.

In addition, the South Korean manufacturer also claims to have received as many as 10,258 pre-sales for Syros as well as signaling great potential for the car.

This is a positive sign ahead of Syros' market introduction in India and evidence of Kia's customer-centric focus, presenting vehicles that value our customers through the innovative features and services offered, said Kia Corporation President and CEO Hong Sung Song on the brand's official website, Tuesday, January 21.

Kia Syros has a new design language similar to a large EV SUV, EV9. It is said that this model is available in both gasoline and diesel variants with a pure EV that will join its ranks in the future.

In its exterior view, Syros has an EV3 and EV9-like display with a more boxy and perpendicular frontnose and display headlights piled up vertically on the edge of the bumper.

Lighting is supported by three LED projector units and different LED daytime running lamp light elements. Unlike the ICE variant, the EV type has a more closed grip with the intake water channel positioned at the bottom.

Another highlight of Syros is its high design with dark A, C, and D pillars and a body-colored B pillar that creates a perfect window line. The side is also equipped with a rim with a three-klobe pattern measuring 17 inches.

Meanwhile, the back has an L-shaped rear light which is higher and has two black and silver finishing on the bumper.

Syros has a modern interior display with a 12.3-inch double screen for state-of-the-art infotainment and instrument clusters. It is combined with a 5-inch screen for the temperature measuring system, thus forming a combined 30-inch screen.

In addition, the steering wheel has the latest two-stop pattern inspired by EV3 with a smooth center console with wireless charging pads.

At the bottom of the engine hood, Syros is offered in a choice of 1.0 liters of turbo-gasoline powered 120 dk and torque 172 Nm combined with transmission of six manual accelerations and seven DCT accelerations.

Diesel options are offered with 1.5 liters with 116 dk of power and 250 Nm of torque combined with six manual accelerations and six automatic accelerations.

Kia will start selling Syros in India from February 1 and plans to expand the model to various markets including Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle East.
