JAKARTA - The Mazda CX-80 was introduced to the European market last April as the big brother of the CX-60 and in the near future this broad-dimensional SUV will be introduced to the Southeast Asian market, Malaysia.

Launching from Paultan, Wednesday, December 4, Mazda distributors in neighboring Bermaz will display the CX-80 at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) which will take place from 5-11 December.

Thus, Mazda intends to expand it to various regions. In Malaysia, the CX-80 will compete with other premium SUV rivals such as the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.

The CX-80 has a number of things familiar with the CX-60 marketed in Asia, such as the same dimensions of width and similar exterior forces. However, the model has a wheelbase of 250 mm longer and 26 mm higher than the brother.

At a glance, the SUV has a similar visual as CX-60 all over its body, but its profile has been refined, leaving an elegant impression. The side window is widened to display a straighter circle on the D pillar.

In Europe, this model will be offered in three choices of middle row configurations, namely bench seats for three people, two container-seat walk-through rooms, and two captain-seat with the presence of a center console.

Mazda has not announced details on the interior, but will be equipped with Alexa's voice control feature that can tune music, air-conditioning, navigation, and third-party applications.

All-new Mazda CX-80 carries the same engine as a CX-60 with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option, which comes with 2.5 liters of 4-cylinder with an electric motor measuring 129 kW and a 17.8 kWh battery and a 3.3 liter 6-cylinder option with 254 ps power diesel. All machine options are offered with all wheels driving (AWD).

The manufacturer based in Hiroshima, Japan offers a number of color choices consisting of Jet Black, Deep Crystal Blue, Platinum Quartz, Arctic White, Rhidium White, Machine Gray, Soul Red Crystal, Artist Red, and Melting Copper.

When introduced on the blue continent, Mazda CX-80 is offered with five trims, namely Exclusive-Line, Homura, Takumi, Homura Plus, and Takumi Plus with a tag starting from 48,920 (Rp989.3 million).

With the entry of the model into neighboring countries, it is open to the possibility that the model will be brought to the Indonesian market. Currently, PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI) offers a CX-60, which is below the CX-80 with a three-line configuration.
