JAKARTA - Stellantis has again expanded the reach of the Leapmotor brand in the global market by entering the Southeast Asia region, to be precise Malaysia.

Launching from Reuters, Friday, October 18, the company will start selling the mid-Leapmotor C10 SUV in the neighboring country, after a successful debut in the European market. This was conveyed by the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Tengku Zafrul Aziz.

This step is in line with Malaysia's ambition to become regional center in global production and electric vehicle supply chain (EV). Malaysia is also targeting EV and hybrid sales to reach 20 percent of total new car sales by 2030. In the first half of this year alone, sales of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) in Malaysia experienced a 112 percent spike.

The C10 leakotor itself is one of the brand's leading products. After launching in Europe for 36,400 euros (around Rp613.7 million), the SUV is now ready to compete in the Malaysian market. In Europe, Leapmotor also offers a more affordable T03 model, at a price of 18,900 euros (around Rp318.6 million).

In the D-SUV segment, the C10 Leapmotor comes with impressive dimensions, namely 4,739 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, 1,680 mm high, and 2.825 mm wheelbase. This vehicle uses a 20-inch trident alloy rim with a Dunlop e Sport Maxx tire measuring 245/45, and is equipped with LED auto headlights and daytime running lights (DRL) for a modern display.

Stellantis offers C10 Leapmotors with attractive color choices such as Canopy Gray, Pearly White, Tundra Gray, and Glazed Green. The interior also comes with an elegant feel, available in the colors of Criollo Brown and Midnight Aura.

Built on the LEAP3.0 platform, the SUV is designed to meet the needs of the family, with a rear-wheeled single electric motor that produces 218 PS and a 320 Nm torque. This allows acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds with a peak speed of 170 km/hour.

Using a lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 69.9 kWh, the C10 Leapmotor offers a distance of up to 424 km according to WLTP standards. Charging is also quite fast, with the ability to fill from 30 percent to 80 percent within 30 minutes.

In Malaysia, the C10 Leapmotor is offered at a promotional price of 149,000 ringgit (around Rp536.5 million) until November 30, before the normal price becomes 159,000 ringgit (around Rp572.5 million).
