Rivian R3 Price Revealed, Starting From IDR 500 Million

JAKARTA - Rivian, a car manufacturer from the United States last week, hit the electric car market by revealing the R2 model, and at the same time a smaller R3 model was also introduced.

At the launch event, the main focus was on R2, including some surprising price details. However, the smaller R3 is no less interesting, and now the details are starting to come to light, including an estimated price that was directly conveyed by Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe to Top Gear, quoted from the ArenaEV page Friday, March 15.

Rivian charges R3 at a cheaper price than R2, which is in the range of 35,000 - 40,000 US dollars (around Rp546-624 million). In comparison, R2 is priced at US$45.000 (around Rp702 million).

Scaringe describes the R3 design as a unique combination of crossovers, SUVs, hatchbacks, wagons, and many other things. He also added that R3 has a rally car soul.

R3 will start production in 2027, and many things can change in those three years. Prior to that, Rivian had to encourage the R2 model to be mass-produced soon and the first shipment was scheduled for 2026.

"Both models are designed at their core for the US and Europe. We haven't specifically said when they will be present in Europe, we have to do it and we need to, but we realize how interesting they are in the European market and especially the more suitable R3", Scaringe added.

The launch of R2 and R3 marks Rivian's great step in expanding its market reach. R3, with a unique design and more affordable price, has the potential to become a game-changer in the electric car market.
