JAKARTA - BYD, a car manufacturer from China, plans to launch a 4x4 hybrid car during the Shanghai Motor Show this April. It is planned that this car will be marketed in China this year and enter the global market in 2024.

The car was once accused of imitating the design of Land Rover Defender but for the Land Rover Defender engine it still uses engines with conventional fuel.

Reporting from Autocar, last Thursday, March 9, the car with the internal SF code is a PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle) car, which has a power of 671 dk. The combination of this hybrid engine is claimed by BYD to beat Mercedes-Benz C63 because it was able to reach a distance of up to 1,200 km during the trial.

The powertrain contained in the BYD SF is paired with automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system (4WD) with a power distribution of the front wheels and rear wheels.

BYD SF has a large dimension with a length of 5,000 mm and a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. BYD set the price on this SF between 57,000 US dollars and 86,000 US dollars or if converted into around Rp. 880 million and Rp. 1.33 billion. Of course, this is cheaper when compared to Land Rover Defender which is priced at 107,900 US dollars or around Rp. 1.67 billion.

BYD plans to market the SF for the global market, which means this car could be sold to the Asian and European markets. This is one of the products BYD will rely on after they previously launched Crossover Atto 3 for the European market.
