PKS Asks Ministers Who Want To Participate In The 2024 Presidential Election To Resign In Today's Memory, August 4, 2022

JAKARTA Memories of today, three years ago, August 4, 2022, the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) asked all ministers who want to take part in the 2024 presidential election to resign immediately. This condition is so that the government can work professionally and not be disturbed by political contestation matters.

Previously, the names of ministers who will compete in the 2024 presidential election appeared. The public was excited. The Minister of Defense (Menhan), Prabowo Subianto and the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Sandiaga Uno appeared.

The 2024 election is still far away. However, the party machine began to attempt to dismantle the presidential and vice presidential candidates. They tried all kinds of 'community' candidates. Everything is for the sake of winning by gaining a lot of votes in the upcoming presidential election.

Many government ministers, Joko Widodo, have ambitions to advance. They are Prabowo Subianto (Menhan), Sandiaga Uno (Menparekraf), Airlangga Hartarto (Coordinating Minister for the Indonesian Economy), and Erick Thohir (Minister of SOEs).

The names were then rumored to have been partnered with by political parties. This condition made all Indonesian people angry. The performance of the ministers mentioned to be advancing is considered less flashy. This condition raises questions when they are busy in political contestation.

Not to mention that Indonesia's business is not doing well. Everything because Indonesia has just fought the COVID-19 pandemic. Economic recovery is not an easy matter. Jokowi's ministers are asked to immediately focus on increasing people's lives.

Another problem arises. Global geopolitical conditions as a result of the Russia-Ukraine war disrupt many things. Surprisingly, the politics of power transfer is considered the most important thing. Political elites are still busy trying to think about the steps ahead.

PKS was not even a vote on August 4, 2022. The political party asked the ministers who wanted to take part in the presidential election to resign immediately.

PKS emphasized that this was the mandate of Article 170 Paragraph 1, Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections. State officials nominated for political parties as participants in the Presidential Election must resign.

This condition is because the position of minister is not a joke. The life of the Indonesian people is a serious gamble.

"All ministers must focus on maintaining their portfolio. Hard work alone is not necessarily successful, let alone not focus. Resigning is an elegant step. Resigning more to ethics, the rules can still be circumvented, the president is a statesman.
