President Jokowi Opened A Tree Plantation Event In The Mount Pepe Forest Area, Central Lombok, November 13, 2021

JAKARTA - Today, one year ago, November 13, 2021, President Jokowi led a tree planting event. The event was held in the Mount Pepe Forest Area in Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). Tree planting was carried out by Jokowi during a working visit to NTB.

Jokowi wants all Lombok residents to be actively involved in the agenda of saving the environment. Moreover, recently floods and landslides often occur because trees that always absorb water start a little.

An important practice of a country is to protect the environment. Environmental sustainability can be a blessing for all people. That may be the message Jokowi wanted to convey during his working visit in Lombok, NTB.

He deliberately came to lead a tree planting event in the Mount Pepe Forest Area on November 13, 2021. An area of forest outer 450 hectares. However, the area that is the target of forest and land rehabilitation is targeted to cover an area of six hectares.

On that occasion, President Jokowi was accompanied by the Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK), Siti Nurbaya and the Governor of NTB, Zulkieflimansyah. The plan is for the plants to be planted in the Mount Pepe area to vary. These include 1,500 logs of white wood, 200 sticks of marble, 150 stems of crystal, 150 sweet oranges, 500 sticks of avocado, and 250 sticks of water.

Jokowi considers that November is the right time to plant. Because, it was the rainy season. He expects all plants to thrive. So that in the future it can provide economic benefits for local residents.

This morning I was in the Mount Pepe Forest Area in Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. Together with the community, with the Minister, Governor, we together planted many trees here, especially eucalyptus and also lots of fruits," Jokowi said in his speech as quoted by the Cabinet Secretariat website.

Jokowi also explained the urgency of planting trees. He did not want disasters due to rainy seasons such as floods and landslides to come due to the area where Mount Pepe lacked trees. The presence of trees is able to prevent flooding and landslides.

Jokowi also invited all Lombok residents to protect the environment. The more people who take care of it, the better.

"I leave a message to the community so that what has been planted is maintained, maintained, so that later everything will grow well and have an economic impact on all people around the Mount Pepe Forest Area. And also to protect our environment so that it does not landslides, does not flood".

"So once again, I ask that this is really maintained because the season is still in the rainy season, it is very good to plant. And maintenance is that if the people themselves do it, it will be even better," concluded President Jokowi.
