Commemorating Oddie Agam, Ikang Fawzi: His Work Is Timeless

JAKARTA - Senior musician Ikang Fawzi remembers the late Oddie Agam as a person who had a high passion for music and never stopped working. Imran Madjid, known as Oddie Agam, died at the age of 68 today at 11.00 WIB at the Friendship Hospital.

Ikang, who is Oddie's musical friend, said he was shocked when he heard the news. However, Ikang views Oddie as a person who never loses his spirit even though his physical condition has been limited for the past two years due to a stroke.

"I learned a lot from his experience. The point is, he doesn't die when he works. Yes, only death makes us stop working, even when he gets sick, he keeps working," said Ikang, quoted from ANTARA on Wednesday, October 27.

Ikang said that Oddie is a reliable songwriter, his works are always phenomenal and can be accepted by generations so that they are eternal. Oddie is also an instrumentalist, as well as a great singer.

"His strength is in composing songs, his songs are phenomenal, he is kind, he cares about his friends, likes to joke. One thing we need to remember is the quality of his songs that can cross generations," said Ikang.

"So, if we talk about the 1980s-1990s, it can't be separated from Oddie Agam, that's cool. But nowadays he is also still working, still backing up many new singers. He himself is also a reliable instrumentalist and singer as well," he continued.

Meanwhile, Ikang revealed that he, Addie MS, Vina Panduwinata, Memes, Adjie Soetama and plans to create a recording project with a group called Reunion. However, the project was postponed until waiting for Oddie's condition to improve.

"We are actually waiting for him until he is healthy again and want to make a recording project. Previously we had a group called Reuni, that was me too, Addie, Memes, Vina, Adjie Soetama, yes, batch 80-90s. Because many of his works were also written by him. he hasn't recorded it yet, it's good," said Ikang Fawzi.
