After Meeting Bill Gates, Queen Elizabeth Was Asked To Rest By Doctors

JAKARTA - Britain's Queen Elizabeth has decided to take a few days off on the advice of doctors and canceled a planned visit to Northern Ireland, Buckingham Palace said Wednesday, October 20.

The palace did not say why the queen had been asked to rest, though it said the 95-year-old queen was "excited" and wanted to visit Northern Ireland in the future.

The Queen spent Tuesday night hosting events at Windsor Castle for businessmen like Bill Gates after Prime Minister Boris Johnson held a green investment conference ahead of the COP26 climate summit. After this event, the medical team advised Queen Elizabeth to rest.

"The queen listened to medical advice to rest for the next few days," the palace said, as quoted by ANTARA.

"Her Royal Highness is in high spirits and disappointed to not be able to visit Northern Ireland, where she will be attending several events today and tomorrow."

The queen has been in power for nearly seven decades. She was 25 years old when she was made Queen Elizabeth II on 6 February 1952 when her father died.

Elizabeth has been a symbol of stability for generations of British society. As a queen who continues to be dedicated to her duties, despite her old age, she has earned respect in the UK and abroad.

Quoted from Reuters on Thursday, a source said the queen's decision to rest was unrelated to COVID. She was resting at Windsor Castle.

The palace said Queen Elizabeth sent a "warm message to the people of Northern Ireland and can't wait to visit."
