Comments On The COVID-19 Vaccine, SF9's Youngbin Apologizes

JAKARTA - Youngbin from the K-pop group SF9 wrote an apology regarding his comments about the COVID-19 vaccine. In his latest Naver V Live broadcast, Youngbin shared his opinion about vaccines. He chose not to be vaccinated because he heard many people say vaccines hurt.

"To be honest I didn't think I would get COVID-19 even though I wasn't vaccinated because I wasn't exposed to the dangers of COVID-19," he said.

“But I feel a little scared because many of my relatives have contracted COVID-19. It looks like you can get COVID-19 even if you've been vaccinated, so I thought if I needed to (vaccinated or not)," he continued.

This comment drew criticism from netizens because Youngbin's statement could influence the public not to be vaccinated.

Today, September 28, Youngbin shared his apology through the SF9 fan cafe. He admitted his comments about vaccines were reckless.

“I apologize for causing trouble with my comments about vaccines. I reflected on my words in the broadcast that many people watched, and I apologize," Youngbin said as quoted by Soompi.

Youngbin stated that he will be vaccinated soon and pay more attention to his opinion when in public.

"I will be vaccinated as soon as possible and I will correct my thoughts and be careful in my actions and words," he said.

Youngbin is the leader and rapper of the group SF9. He also starred in several dramas and films such as The Great Battle, Was It Love? and Bubble Up which will be airing soon.
