JAKARTA - The name of General Sudirman will continue to be attached as a hero of Indonesia's freedom fighters. To commemorate him, Director Viva Westi made the film General Sudirman.

This is a biopic that tells the story of General Sudirman, a guerrilla war leader who defended the independence of the Indonesian people despite suffering from lung disease. This film stars Adipati Dolken, Ibnu Jamil, Mathias Muchus, Baim Wong, and Nugie.

The production of this film was carried out very seriously and took 50 days. In fact, the average Indonesian film shooting is done 14-21 days of shooting. The filming locations took place in four cities on the island of Java, namely Yogyakarta, Bandung, Magelang, and Wonosari. General Sudirman's film was shot in 4 cities, namely Yogyakarta, Bandung, Magelang and Wonosari.

General Sudirman's film begins with the Dutch declaring unilaterally they are no longer bound by the Renville agreement, as well as declaring the termination of the ceasefire. On December 19, 1948, General Simons Spoor, Commander of the Dutch Army, led the second military aggression against Yogyakarta, which was then the capital of the Republic.

Soekarno-Hatta was arrested and exiled to the island of Bangka. General Sudirman, who was seriously ill, traveled to the south and led a guerrilla war for seven months.

The Dutch declared that Indonesia no longer existed. From the depths of the forest, General Sudirman broadcasted that the Republic of Indonesia still existed, firmly standing with its strong National Army.

Sudirman turned Java into a vast guerrilla battlefield, leaving the Dutch out of logistics and time. The unity of the TNI and the people finally won the war. With the signing of the Roem-Royen Agreement, the Kingdom of the Netherlands recognizes the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia in its entirety.
