President's Policy To Extend PPKM Criticized, Krisdayanti Still Supports

JAKARTA - The government's policy to extend the implementation of community activity restrictions (PPKM) level 3-4 in Java-Bali until August 16 brings pros and cons. Humanitarian activist Natalius Pigai, assesses that the PPKM which continues to be extended is a manifestation of the failure of the Joko Widodo government in taking policies to handle the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to him, if the country is serious about ending the spread of COVID-19, then the government should not hesitate to implement a regional quarantine or lockdown. "It's been 11 days or 41 days (PPKM), but COVID-19 is still wildly attacking residents," he said.

However, Krisdayanti has a different opinion. This PDI-P politician supports the extension of the PPKM. The people's neglect of habit, according to Krisdayanti, still needs to be disciplined. "Because it is undeniable, this PPKM policy suppresses the number of spreads. It does not eliminate COVID instantly. But the strictness of this PPKM is to force the community to be disciplined and build the must for health program discipline itself into a good habit," he asserted.
