Disney Is Working On A Film Based On Lionel Richie's All Night Long

JAKARTA - Walt Disney is reportedly making a film adapted from Lionel Richie's famous song, All Night Long. This news was confirmed by the production house on Wednesday, June 10.

This film will use Richie's hits which will later be combined with musicals. Richie himself certainly sits in the chair of this film producer with his manager, Bruce Eskowitz.

In addition, Disney also collaborated with Pete Chiarelli as scriptwriter. Previously Chiarelli worked on Crazy Rich Asians and The Proposal.

Through his Twitter account, the Hello singer wrote, "Big things are being done!" responding to the news of the filming of All Night Long.

With a musical style, All Night Long seems to be adopting a storytelling style like Mamma Mia which was adapted from ABBA's song.

All Night Long is Lionel Richie's song taken from the 1983 album Can't Slow Down. Being one of the hits, this song ranks first on the international charts. He even released a second version of this song with Guy Sebastian as part of a charity.

All Night Long isn't the first project to make a film based on a song. Previously, there was Last Christmas in 2019 which adapted the song of the same name by Wham !. There is also a film from China, Bad Romance which is taken from the song Lady Gaga.

On the other hand, films that are related to music or musicals always attract the attention of the audience. For example, there is Rocketman who tells the journey of musician Elton John. This film received a box office title with a profit of 200 million US dollars (US) worldwide.

However, this project will be Lionel Richie's first. The Grammy Award-winning singer is known for her hits, which have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. As a result, the song adaptation film project is something new for the 70-year-old singer.
