NCT 127 And IU Sweep The Gaon Charts

JAKARTA - NCT 127 officially won three crowns from May 17 to May 23 after reigning on three different charts at once.

Gaon Chart announced, Thursday, May 28th, the group's new repackaged album, Neo Zone: The Final Round, will debut at No. 1 on the physical album chart this week.

While their new song, Punch claims the No.1 spot on the digital download chart and the BGM chart (which tracks songs that people buy to use as background music for their KakaoTalk blog and profile).

Previously, NCT 127 won the title of million seller for album sales. As of May 20 KST, the group has sold 817,666 copies of their second studio album Neo Zone, which was released in March.

Within the first two days of release, the repackaged version of the album - Neo Zone: The Final Round - sold an additional 400,987 copies, bringing their total album sales to 1,218,653 copies.

The Neo Zone: The Final Round special will be released on May 19 at 6 p.m. local time, less than 48 hours before the latest compilation of sales figures is released. This means that NCT 127's sales record will rise even higher.

Meanwhile, IU's Eight, produced by Suga, managed to defend its dual crown from last week.

The song has topped the overall digital charts and streaming charts for the second consecutive week.

Last week, IU shared an acoustic version of the song Eight. Through his official Twitter, the singer announced the reason he brought an acoustic version of the song to celebrate his birthday as well as the achievement of 3 million subscribers on YouTube.

In the clip, IU is accompanied by three guitarists in a cool white room filled with greenery.
