JAKARTA - Young actress Shalom Razade again showed her totality in the film industry. This time, she was cast to play the character of Isabella, the figure behind the ghost "Penebok" in the horror film The Bell: Call to Die whose life is set in the Dutch colonial era.

In order to bring to life the character of Isabella who is of Dutch descent and an activist in her time, Shalom made a bold improvisation. He proposed that his dialogue be changed into Dutch to strengthen the characterization.

Interestingly, the use of Dutch was not a request from the director nor written in the original script, but was purely an idea from Shaloom himself.

"Actually, there is no draft (script), the Dutch language is actually my own idea. Let Isabella convey her message to the Dutch people more accurately, so that they understand that Isabella is serious. And of course, she is also of Dutch descent," explained Shaloom Razade in South Jakarta, Monday, April 26.

Although he had difficulty during the language deepening process, Shalom felt that it was crucial for the integrity of his character.

"Finally regret (because it's hard), but it's okay, it's good. I'm learning too because I think it's important for Isabella," he concluded while laughing.

Unlike his previous roles, Shalom admitted that there was a special attraction that made him determined to take on the role of this iconic ghost. According to him, the character of Isabella or Penebok is not just an entity that spreads fear, but a figure with deep emotional motives.

"Why I was initially interested because it turns out that the Penebok ghost has a reason why he collects these heads. Not just terror-teror, but it turns out that this ghost has a heart," said Shalom Razade.

Shaloom explained that Isabella's horrific actions were motivated by a deep longing.

"He just wants to meet the person he loves very much, he wants that person to see him completely. I've never seen this from other ghosts. When I read the script, I was even touched because there was a meaning behind it," he added.

The film, which was produced by the Sinemata Buana Kreasindo production house, was also played by Bhisma Mulia, Ratu Sofya, Mathias Muchus to Septian Dwi Cahyo.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 7.
