JAKARTA - Actress Helena Bonham Carter has dropped out of the production of The White Lotus 4 series. Her role will be replaced while production is underway.

"With the start of filming season four of The White Lotus, the character Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter is not in line on location," HBO said in a statement.

"The role will be recast and the actor will be replaced in the coming weeks. HBO, the producers and Mike White are sad not to be able to work with him but remain huge fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon," he explained.

Helena Bonham Carter was announced as one of the cast in January. In addition to Bonham Carter, some of the names announced were Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani and Nadia Tereszkiewicz.

Some of the additional names who have joined include Chloe Bennet, Sandra Bernhard, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Frida Gustavsson, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, Rosie Perez, Ben Schnetzer and Laura Smet.

The production process for season four is set in France and has started last week. The French Riviera is the first place they shoot.

Season four of The White Lotus follows a group of guests at the White Lotus hotel over the course of a week against the backdrop of the Cannes Film Festival.

Bonham Carter last played Agatha Christie's Seven Dials series, which was released this year. He also returned to play in the film Enola Holmes 3.
