JAKARTA - The Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemendukbangga)/BKKBN introduces the values of Raden Ajeng (RA) Kartini's struggle to young children through the Sayang Anak Care Garden Program (Tamasya).
This effort is carried out as part of character education from an early age, so that children get to know the figure of national heroes while instilling the values of equality and the spirit of working.
Deputy Minister of Population and Family Development/Deputy Head of BKKBN, Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, explained that the introduction of the Kartini figure was also associated with the habit of environmental love behavior. This is in line with the Indonesian Movement for Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful (ASRI) launched by President Prabowo Subianto, which encourages a clean and healthy life culture starting from the family.
"Starting with simple activities such as coloring the fan with a picture of Ibu Kartini, hopefully this can also be one of the means to introduce RA Kartini as an Indonesian hero who fights for women's rights," said Isyana in an official statement in Jakarta.
He hopes that the caregivers in the Tamasya program can play an active role as storytellers who are able to convey the story of Kartini's struggle in a way that children can easily understand.
"How is RA Kartini's struggle, and how can children, both girls and boys, together encourage women to continue to be empowered and work to advance the nation," he continued.
According to Isyana, currently more and more Indonesian women are contributing in the public space without abandoning their role in the family. He cited the Family Planning (PKB) and Family Planning Field Officer (PLKB) cadres who also play a role in building the quality of the Indonesian family.
"Everyone plays an important role in building and educating the nation, so that the Indonesian people and families can grow healthier, smarter, and can become a superior generation, the golden generation in 2045," he said.
During the activity, as many as 17 children aged 3-5 years who were members of the Kemendukbangga/BKKBN Tour also showed their creativity by giving a kipas bergambar Kartini. The work was made from recycled materials such as old newspapers, as part of environmental education.
In addition, Isyana also interacted directly with the children and distributed a gift containing coloring supplies to support their creativity.
