JAKARTA - The production house Imaginari is exploring the richness of Batak culture through its latest film project which is a musical drama genre. Don't play around, director Bene Dion Rajagukguk revealed that this film is one of the projects with the most location points he has ever worked on.
During the filming process, the team spent 5 days in Jakarta and 21 days in the Toba and Samosir area. Bene said that his party continued to move from city to city in order to get the best visual of the natural beauty of North Sumatra.
"Samosir is not one point, we really keep going around. We move from city to city, I don't want to spoil what the points are, but what is certain is that the transfer happens many times," said Bene Dion in a recent interview session.
Ernest Prakasa who acted as the producer even joked that the scale of the film's production resembled a tourism promotional video.
"It's like visiting North Sumatra, like a tourism ad, right Ben? It goes around the island in the middle," added Ernest.
Dipa Andika, another producer from Imaginari, hopes that this film can follow in the footsteps of Susah Sinyal and Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap which successfully increased the number of tourist visits to the shooting location.
"Hopefully this film, especially with the many tourist areas, can promote local tourism later," said Dipa.
Moving locations outside the island with a large entourage, including dancers and additional crew, presents incredible logistical challenges. Imaginari even brought its own catering team to anticipate remote locations where restaurants are difficult to access.
"Both (musical projects) are equally challenging in logistics. We bring our own catering team because we are really in an area where we might have trouble finding restaurants," concluded Dipa Andika.
