Surge in Interest in Vietnam, Flights Increased during Holiday Season

JAKARTA - In recent years, Vietnam has become increasingly popular as a tourist destination for urban people, including from Indonesia. In addition to the relatively affordable travel costs, this country offers an interesting combination of cultural tourism, to natural landscapes such as beaches and mountains.

Cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are also considered to have a dynamic character, making them suitable for tourists looking for a short but memorable vacation experience.

Along with this increasing interest, tourist mobility to Vietnam has also increased, especially during long holidays. This also encourages airlines to adjust flight capacity to accommodate the surge in travel demand.

As is the case with Vietjet. Recently, they increased the number of flights during the period from April 25 to May 5, 2026. During this period, they operated thousands of flights on the Vietnamese domestic network, with increased frequencies on a number of routes connecting popular destinations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, to Phu Quoc.

There are several details such as operating almost 3,800 additional flights across Vietnam's domestic network, with an additional 500 flights or an increase of 16% compared to the same period last year.

During this peak period, Vietjet airlines provides up to 832,000 seats, an increase of 130,000 seats or a growth of 18% year-on-year.

The capacity addition is related to major holiday moments in Vietnam, such as King Hung's anniversary, Reunification Day, and International Labor Day, which is known as one of the busiest periods after Chinese New Year.

Vietjet said the increased flight frequency was made to anticipate the increased travel demand during the holiday season.

"We are adjusting flight capacity to meet the high demand for travel during the long holiday period, while providing more options for passengers," the airline's official statement read, received by VOI, Thursday, April 9.

In addition, connectivity between Indonesia and Vietnam is also being strengthened through a number of direct routes, such as Jakarta and Bali to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

In fact, the new route connecting Jakarta to Da Nang is scheduled to start operating in the near future with regular frequency every week. Not to be outdone, there are also various attractive offers for Indonesian travelers who want to experience a fun vacation in Vietnam.
