JAKARTA - Minister of Culture (Menbud) Fadli Zon stated that the book History of Indonesia, which was worked on throughout 2025, is planned to be launched in February.

Fadli explained that this book of Indonesian History has eleven volumes, of which the material was written by hundreds of historians from dozens of universities in the country.

"We have completed the book History of Indonesia, there are eleven volumes," said Fadli Zon in a Media Briefing at the Kemendikdasmen Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta on Thursday, January 8.

"This book is not written by me, not written by the government, but the writer is Indonesian historians," he continued. "The number of historians is 123 historians from 34 universities. And they are experts."

After the editorial stage is completed, the eleven volumes of this Indonesian History book will be launched, where the public can access it in digital format on the official website of the Ministry of Culture.

"We are finalizing, if it is ready - this is being worked on - then in the form of a PDF it must be free (for public access), because it is funded by the state budget. And later we will distribute it on the website of the Ministry of Culture and maybe also on other websites. So, it will definitely be easy to access," said Fadli.

"But we will print (some), maybe according to the needs of the National Library, regional libraries, and libraries at a number of universities," he added.

Furthermore, the Minister of Education explained that writing the History of Indonesia book will not stop. In 2026, there will be several thematic themes that will be written by historians.

"This year, we will also form a team or several teams to write the history of Indonesia in 1945-1950 - the war to defend independence," said Fadli.

"Then there is also the history of our great kingdom: Majapahit, then the history of Sriwijaya, and also the history of Aceh, namely the Samudera Pasai Kingdom," he concluded.
