"Every night, the native people of Batang hold a puppet show as a form of rejection of evil. These elements of reality are what we brought into the film," he added.
In the newly released trailer, the audience is invited to follow the journey of Sita (Michelle Ziudith), a single mother who brings her daughter, Gendis (Fara Shakila), to Semarang. However, the journey turns into a nightmare when they cross Alas Roban.
Gendis began to experience strange events and fell ill unnaturally. Michelle Ziudith explained that the character of Sita that she played had to struggle between logic and fear.
"An emotional moment for Sita was when Gendis had a high fever that did not heal after crossing the road. Even though he was under the pressure of terror, Sita still tried to think rationally to save her child," said Michelle.
Tensions escalated when Sita was helped by Tika (Taskya Namya) and Anto (Rio Dewanto). Taskya said Tika's character is a figure who believes in the supernatural but still tries to be logical.
"Tika believes in the supernatural, but she is not someone who immediately concludes everything is because of demons. She still tries to think logically first," explained Taskya.
