Social Criticism Director Through "Comic 8 Revolution: Cabinet Santet"

JAKARTA - Director Fajar Bustomi presents his latest film, Comic 8 Revolution: Cabinet Santet. This film is Falcon Pictures' new effort to bring Comic 8 to life as one of their most successful franchises.

Comic 8 Revolution: Santet Kabinet tells the story of Ki Bagus (Andre Taulany) and Nyi Gendis (Hesti Purwadinata), a pair of witch doctors who want to take control of a cabinet. They decide to find some new employees to help them.

Directed by Fajar, the film was written by Adhitya Mulya and played by several familiar names, including Indro Warkop, Oki Rengga, Indy Barends, Vino G. Bastian, Cak Lontong, Mo Sidik, Adjis Doaibu, Mister Aloy, Dicky Difie, and others.

"Actually, there have been several comedies, but this is the funniest comedy because I feel that here my friends are already funny like Oki, Hj. Andre, Pakde Indro," said Fajar Bustomi at a press conference in Central Jakarta on Saturday, December 13.

"My work here is really light, the preparation is quite long. (Preparation) with the new comedian is almost 2 months. Anyway, it's fun that the process is easy," he continued.

Fajar also considered the idea of a cabinet curse as a form of social criticism because of respect and love for the country. The criticism was also thrown in a way that seemed strange.

"As filmmakers, we want to make films that are funny but not just entertaining but the best works come from honesty. From our feelings to our hearts, so even if someone feels criticized but it's a form of love. Because it's love, so we criticize," said Fajar Bustomi.

Indro Warkop added, "We are not criticizing politics but political behavior that is conveyed in a reasonable way. Stand up is restless and always restless. This is a constructive criticism."

Meanwhile, the film Comic 8 Revolution: Santet Kabinet can be watched in Indonesian cinemas starting December 24.
