Aghniny Haque was hesitant and felt depressed to play an obsessive wife in 'The Last Flight'

JAKARTA - Actress Aghniny Haque is back challenging her acting skills through an emotional and complex role in VMS' latest film, The Last Flight.

Playing the role of Nadia, the wife of Captain Deva (played by Jerome Kurnia), Aghniny revealed that the process of deepening her character this time was quite draining mentally until she felt depressed.

Aghniny admitted that she was hesitant when she first received the offer for the role. The doubt arose because Nadia's character was considered very potentially breaking the audience's view.

"At first I was hesitant to play it, because this character might be polarizing. It can be very hated, or maybe people can relate because the husband (her husband) is like that too," said Aghniny in South Jakarta, not long ago.

He added that Nadia's character has an obsessive side which is actually based on certain reasons in the dynamics of her marriage.

The biggest challenge for the KKN star in the Penari Village is the very different personality between him and the character he plays. Aghniny, known as an independent woman in real life, must transform into a wife who is very dependent (clingy) on her partner.

"Nadia and I are very different. If Nadia is a person who can be said to be clingy, she is not like me who is independent," he explained.

This drastic difference is what makes the process of reading and deepening the character difficult. Aghniny said that the one month given to delve into Nadia's emotions felt quite torturous.

"The process of deepening his own emotions is quite depressing for a month," he admitted honestly.

Even so, Aghniny tried to be professional in building chemistry with her co-stars, especially Jerome Kurnia and Nadya Arina. He emphasized the importance of communication to set emotional boundaries, such as jealousy, to stay comfortable while filming but his emotions were conveyed to the screen.

"We really convey the limitations of jealousy. I'm comfortable if this is the chemistry, how do you want it? From there we can know and respect each other," said the actress born in 1997.

The Last Flight also became the first moment for Aghniny to act with Nadya Arina and Arifin Putra. He admitted that he was very enthusiastic about this collaboration and promised something new for Indonesian audiences.

"This will be something new and exciting," concluded Aghniny.

Viewers can watch Aghniny Haque's transformation as a hurt but obsessive wife in the film Last Flight which is scheduled to be released in cinemas starting January 15, 2026.
