Melati Pertiwi's Monoplay Relives The Spirit Of Indonesian Women's National Hero

JAKARTA - Keina Production presents a monumental performance titled Monoplay Melati Pertiwi: Moving Along the History of National Travel'. This performance was held in the month of respect for Indonesian heroes, raising the heroic and inspiring stories of six Indonesian National Women Heroes from across generations.

The production of this monoplay was produced by actress and producer Marcella Zalianty and directed by Wawan Sofwan. This Melati Pertiwi monologue will be held on November 25, 2025 at the Jakarta Arts Building.

Marcella Zalianty as the producer emphasized that this performance was inspired by the struggle of the great women of the archipelago in realizing their beloved country.

Melati Pertiwi's Monoplay event is a form of our love for the nation's history and dedication to providing space for the voices of the brave women who have formed this country. We believe that exemplary is timeless. Through the art power of performance, we want to sew back our collective memory, conveying to the younger generation, especially Millennials and Gen Z, that the values of courage, intelligence, and determination of these female heroes are very relevant to be used as inspiration in facing the challenges of today's times. This is more than just a show; it is a reminder of the nation's identity," she said in a written broadcast, November 1.

Monoplay Melati Pertiwi is designed as a cohesive full performance, highlighting the narrative of the struggle that is often not revealed from the brave women who make up the nation's history, where the story of one figure and another is interrelated, forming a big narrative about the resilience, intelligence, and sacrifice of Indonesian women in building the nation. The six heroes appointed were SK Trimurti, Nyi Ageng Serang, Ratu Kalinyamat, Rasuna Said, Christina Martha Tiahahu, and Admiral Malahayati.

Wawan Sofwan, who is known for his innovative and in-depth approach, explained the artistic concept of this performance. The director combines various elements to provide a complete performance experience.

We are trying to create a complete tapestry or woven story. Every hero is a linking thread, knitting a long history of the nation's journey. This artistic approach with symbolic stage skenography will be combined with intense acting, multimedia elements, and music, creating immersive and emotional theater experiences. Our challenge is to bring the depth of character and historical context in a flowing and powerful groove, so that viewers not only watch, but feel directly the pulse of their struggle," he explained.

The implementation of this Melati Pertiwi Monoplay is also supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. This event will be held at the Jakarta Arts Building on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, with two performance sessions at 16.00 WIB and 19.30 WIB.

Melati Pertiwi's Monoplay is not only a cultural agenda, but also a movement to build public awareness about the central role of women in history, foster the spirit of nationalism, and open up strategic collaboration spaces between the art world and industry.
