Still 22 Years Old, Jeong Seunghwan ATBO Chooses Military Mandatory

JAKARTA - The IST Entertainment agency surprised fans after telling Jeong Seunghwan from ATBO that he had left for military service. He left for duty since October 20 which was only announced a few hours later.

The agency claimed the decision was taken because Seunghwan wanted to go privately and without the spotlight.

"We hope that you can send support so that Jeong Seunghwan can fulfill his duties in good condition. Thank you," he said.

After the agency released the announcement, Jeong Seunghwan released a handwritten letter on his Instagram account. He also apologized for not letting him know from the start.

"I'm sure a lot of people are surprised by this news. I apologize for giving this news suddenly to those looking forward to our comeback," wrote Jeong Seunghwan.

"To be honest this decision was just made so it felt like it wasn't real, but after the discussion, I believed if I could complete my military service, it would make me come back sooner and meet you guys and be more active. That's why I left," he said.

Jeong Seunghwan stressed that he is still working even though he is now taking time off to fulfill his duties as a citizen.

Even though I wrote this message the night before leaving, I was reminded by all the fans who supported and loved me. This makes me reflect once again how big the moment was," continued Seunghwan.

"It feels like a long time but if you support me, I will come back and give support with a better side," he said.

Jeong Seunghwan left for military service at the age of 22, while the standard requirements for Korean citizens to undergo military service started at the age of 28. This has received a negative response because Seunghwan left in the midst of his busy schedule with ATBO.
