Defeat Changi, Hong Kong Becomes The Best Destination With Airport In Asia

JAKARTA - Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) managed to beat Changi Airport Singapore as Asia's Best Airport (Asias Leading Airport) at the 2025 World Travel Awards.

The announcement of the HKIA victory was made by the organizers of the World Travel Awards Asia & Oceania at the gala ceremony on Monday, October 13, 2025.

The victory of Hong Kong International Airport is driven by efforts to improve its services and facilities. The airport is 1,900 hectares that have been operating since 1998, and is currently connected to 220 destinations through 120 airlines.

Last year, HKIA handled 39.5 million passengers, or 55 percent of the figures recorded in 2019 or before the pandemic. Recently, HKIA has increased its services and facilities.

Its services and infrastructure are for higher passenger services, one of which is with its terminal expansion. The expanded Departure hall Terminal 2 is expected to open in March next year, with around 15 airlines moving gradually.

In addition, there is also a free city tour launched by HKIA for travelers who have a layover time of more than seven hours. This is an initiative that aims to attract 5.5 million passengers a year.

HKIA is also known as one of the busiest airports in the world for international cargo, as well as advanced facilities that support passenger experience such as downtown check-in services.

Meanwhile, the World Travel Awards is a travel-related event founded in 1993. The event aims to recognize the advantages in the travel and tourism industry, and is often referred to as the "Oscar Travel Industry".
