Lembayung Appreciated To Asia, Baim Wong Realizes Big Dreams As A Director

JAKARTA - Baim Wong made an important note for his debut as a director in the film 'Lembayung', which was named to receive an award at the 2025 Asian Academy Creative Awards through the Best Feature Film category.

This achievement is certainly surprising for Baim. The reason is, the film he worked on not only resonates domestically, but also manages to penetrate the Asian market and other continents.

With the awards obtained from the Asian Academy Creative Awards, Baim also reflected on his career in the world of cinema, until he was finally appreciated as a director.

"Alhamdulillah, I was immediately appreciated by Asia. I used to have aspirations to be a director, but was often rejected when I offered myself. Finally I made my own production house, and thank God the results were not disappointing," Baim said in his statement, Friday, October 3.

The film 'Lembayung' also won in two other categories in this event. Arya Saloka received the Best Actor Actor and Ipung Rahmat Syaiful received the Best Cinematography (Fiksi) award.

Baim said the three awards obtained illustrate how the success of the film Lembayung cannot be separated from the hard work of the production team. Nearly 90 percent of the sets were built in detail, ranging from dental clinics, prisons, halls, to hospitals.

"The process is tiring, but that's the detail that makes this film feel real," said Baim.

Although the film debut as a director achieved an achievement to be proud of, Baim felt that he would continue to grow. Therefore, he expressed his openness to criticism.

"We hear all, both praising and criticizing. It is a learning material," he said.

Along with the awards obtained, the 'Lembayung' has also been officially scheduled in a number of Asian and European countries' to answer the enthusiasm of film lovers who are looking forward to this work on the international screen.
